It all started when I invited a friend from Lebanon to dinner and asked him about the welfare of his family. He said that they are currently living at a subsistence level because he cannot personally fly to Beirut to transfer money to them. So I asked him why he wouldn't just transfer money from his bank account.

I could only believe what he then told me after I had researched it myself. To make a long story short: Of the $1,000 he sends to his family, at most $100 actually gets to them. After he explained to me how the government taxes every money transfer at 90% through a fixed exchange rate, we spent the rest of the evening talking about solutions to this problem. What if he could just send his family $1,000 in a USD stablecoin?

Of course, that would work, he said. Unfortunately, his parents couldn't use cryptocurrencies to pay their rent or buy meat and vegetables at the weekly market. In that second, the idea of ChangeToCrypto was born: to bring people from all over the world together through a platform, so they can do their daily spending in crypto without the government, a bank, or a financial service provider taking their money away.

And what about the 1.7 billion people in the world who don't have access to a bank account? However, many of them have smartphones with Internet access. Couldn't crypto be the solution for them too?
